Hey thru hikers! If you're making your way up the Pacific Crest Trail this season, we've got good news there's a little slice of magic waiting for you at Mile 511.


What is Makerspace Hideout?

Makerspace Hideout is a creative community and retreat nestled on over 150 acres of off-grid wilderness in Lake Hughes, CA, just off Pine Canyon Rd, about an hour from Los Angeles. No traffic. No neighbors. Just oak forests, open pastures, fruit trees, seasonal streams, and more wildlife than people.


Whether you need a soft bed, a hot shower, or just a place to breathe we've got you!

We're located 2 miles from the trailhead on Pine Canyon Rd in Lake Hughes. Look for Rachel — your local trail angel! 😇

🙌 What We Offer PCT Hikers

  • 🛏️ Beds available — cozy Twin XL bunk beds with reading lights, outlets & blackout curtains, bookable through Airbnb (reach out directly for groups!)

  • ⛺ Camping on the property — welcome!

  • 🚿 Shower & laundry — available when Rachel's home (donation-based)

  • 💧 Running water & hydrants — fed by natural springs

  • 🚗 Trail angel rides — occasional rides to local markets and stops, just ask!


⛺ Camp in Our Yard — Hiker Camping Welcome!

Prefer to sleep under the stars? You're welcome to camp on our property! Pitch your tent in our yard and enjoy the fresh mountain air after a long day on trail.

  • 🏕️ Camping & 🚿 House access, amenities & laundry: $25/day

  • Includes hot tub, full kitchen, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi & more

  • 💧 Running water available via natural spring-fed hydrants

  • A great option if the bunks are full or you just want to stay close to nature. Every hiker is welcome here. 🌄


🏡 The Space

When you step inside, you'll find:

  • A sun-drenched living room with a cozy fireplace

  • A full kitchen stocked for communal cooking

  • A long redwood dining table that seats 16

  • A hot tub overlooking the valley 🛁✨

  • High-speed Starlink Wi-Fi (yes, really)

  • 4.5 bathrooms — no waiting in line!


Rooms are wildlife-themed and sleep up to 16 guests total, so bring your trail family. 🦉🐻🐇
